Welcome to Wisconsin!

With many cultural remnants of its heavy German settlement, the state of Wisconsin is located in the Great Lake Region bordered by Lake Superior and Lake Michigan. With its location between the Great Lakes and the Mississippi River, the state is home to a wide variety of geographical features. Over 45% of Wisconsin’s land area is covered by forest. Throughout the years, the Wisconsin River which is the major river that runs through the state, created an 8 mile gorge of sandstone, caves and interesting rock formations called the Dells. Visitors are attracted to the area along with the Cave of the Mounds at Blue Mounds, the sandstone cliffs along the Mississippi River and Lake Geneva, a resort, in the south.

Summers are warm while the winters are extremely cold especially in the upper northeast and north-central lowlands. Throughout Wisconsin during the cold winter months, frozen lakes bring in fishermen and dot the lakes with ice houses. Snow covers the ground in practically all the winter months and many of the streams and lakes are ice-covered.

Economic growth has been concentrated more in the southeast due to the fact that soils and climate are more favorable for agriculture. Although farming remains important, especially Dairy Farming, manufacturing is the mainstay of today’s economy with special focus on transportation and capital equipment.

The beauty of Wisconsin is unmatched, especially during the cold, winter months. Ice formations are spectacular, frozen to the cliffs and delicately colored by minerals in the rock and soil. When the setting sun illuminates the ice and stone, the caves are amazing. Come to Wisconsin and experience the awesome beauty that awaits you.

Wisconsin include Milwaukee, Madison, Green Bay, Kenosha, Racine, and Appleton.
